We once again have two choices: freedom or servitude in 1956, war or peace today, said the Hungarian Prime Minister at the state ceremony marking the 69th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1956 revolution on Kossuth Square in Budapest. Viktor Orbán delivered his speech on Thursday to participants in the ‘Peace March’.
The head of government assessed that the cooperation of the European peoples had been the greatest idea for centuries, but that it had turned into oppression by Brussels. “You cannot reach an agreement with them. They only know submission. Anyone who negotiates with Brussels has submitted. They have submitted to migration and they have submitted to the plans for war,” he declared.
Viktor Orbán told the participants of the Peace March: “Next year, you must show the world that there is a nation in the heart of Europe that is not afraid to go its own way, that will not be blackmailed, and that will not retreat from the storms of history.”
“That is us, the Hungarians, the wanderers of freedom, and as long as we are here, in this square, and as long as there is even a single Hungarian on earth, there will be someone who says: Peace will reign here, because we want peace, and there will be freedom, because we were born to be free,” he emphasized.
The head of government made it clear that Hungary stands in the way of the “warmongers in Brussels.” “In 1956, they came with tanks; today, they come with financial sanctions.
Just as they found their henchmen in puffer jackets back then, today they have their slim-fit accomplices in the Brussels master plan,”
he said. At the same time, Viktor Orbán described it as good news that “we have a choice” – referring to Italy, Slovakia, Czechia, and Poland, he noted that the advocates of peace are gathering, “the President of the United States is on our side,” while “the earth is shaking” under the feet of the European liberal elite. And we are also involved, he continued, emphasizing that Budapest was the capital of freedom in Europe in 1956 and will be the capital of peace in Europe in 2025. That is why we must always revolt “when strangers want to dictate how we should live.”

The Brussels empire does not want young Hungarians to be patriots, Viktor Orbán continued. The prime minister addressed the young people, saying “the Brussels empire wants you to be homeless Europeans.”
He explained that our peace, our freedom, and our security are in danger; “that is the real world.” “It is also a fact that everyone, including you, is needed to defend Hungary,” he emphasized, stressing that defending the homeland is a just cause, not manipulation, not lies, not deception.
The head of government told young people that if they long for meaning and seriousness in their actions, they should stand up for a just cause and get started. “Live and act, take risks. Protect what is most noble,” the prime minister urged.

“In the next five months, we must talk to the deceived Hungarians, because although they believe they are supporting a change of government, in reality they are supporting war, the migration pact, tax increases, pension taxes, the abolition of utility cost reductions, and cuts to family allowances,” said the head of government, looking ahead to next year’s parliamentary elections in Hungary.
He made it clear that there are many Hungarians who believe they are standing up for a good cause when they support Brussels and the puppet government candidates sent here by Brussels. “We must tell them that Brussels is not a help today, but a danger. The European People’s Party is not our friend, but our enemy.
Brussels and its Hungarian representatives are not bringing progress to Hungary, but war,”
said the prime minister.
“We are now a strong and sovereign nation with dignity, preserving ourselves and our future, even if the traitors loudly shout ‘Slawa Ukrajini.’ We respond only: Long live Hungary,’ emphasized the head of government. He stressed: “Those who say no to war are on our side. Those who are Hungarian want peace. Those who are Hungarian want to live. We will not give away our money, we will not give away our weapons, we will not go to war, and we will not die for Ukraine, but we will live for Hungary.”
