Victor Wembanyama continued his torrid start on Sunday with 31 points, 14 rebounds, six blocked shots, and three steals as San Antonio held off a second-half surge by the Brooklyn Nets to post a 118-107 victory. No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper came off the bench for 20 points and eight assists, and Devin Vassell added 16 points as the Spurs shot 12-of-27 (44.4%) from 3-point range and led by as much as 26 points.
The Raptors let the game get away from them in the second half on Sunday as they dropped a 139-129 road decision to the Dallas Mavericks. Scottie Barnes posted game highs of 33 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in the loss, while Brandon Ingram added 22 points as Toronto lost its second straight. Sandro Mamukelashvili tossed in 16 points off the bench.
The Spurs are looking to take the next step in their rebuild with a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019, while Toronto hasn’t made the postseason since 2022 and was just 30-52 last season, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference.
