Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán with U.S. President Donald Trump at the venue of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on October 13, 2025
On November 7, the Hungarian Prime Minister will be a guest of U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, where they will discuss energy, economic, and financial cooperation, as well as possible outcomes for peace, the minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office announced at a government press conference on Thursday.
Gergely Gulyás said that preparations for the meeting have been underway for some time, with the aim of ensuring that the talks are productive in terms of Hungarian-American relations and the Hungarian economy, and that agreements on energy, military, economic, and financial cooperation will be adopted.
He added that
the meeting will also provide an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange views on the possible outcome of the peace process and to determine the roadmap that could lead to a U.S.-Russian meeting, and through that, to a Russian-Ukrainian peace agreement.
They are pleased that there is no dispute regarding one issue in connection with the planned peace summit, namely that the venue will be Budapest, the Minister noted.

The U.S. President and the Hungarian Prime Minister will announce the agreements to the press in the Oval Office of the White House, in accordance with standard U.S. protocol, he said.
He stressed it was crucial that the Hungarian Prime Minister, who has been “the only European leader in office to represent the cause of peace and the importance of negotiations with the warring parties over the past three and a half years,” to meet with the U.S. President, who has been doing the same since January, backed by the power of the U.S. state and economy.
MOL Refinery Fire
Minister Gulyás reported that
the government had heard a briefing on the fire at the refinery in Százhalombatta (near Budapest), where a criminal investigation is underway and no scenario can be ruled out at this stage.
The case affects not only MOL, but also the security of supply in Hungary and the whole of Central Europe, he pointed out, adding that the government’s goal is to ensure that Hungarian motorists do not have to pay the “price of the explosion” (editor’s note: MOL has previously confirmed that there was no explosion, only a fire). The Minister for National Economy is therefore holding talks with the company’s management.
