New Logistics Giant Settles in the Immediate Vicinity of BMW Plant

The eastern Hungarian economic region around Debrecen is consolidating its reputation as a new powerhouse in Central Europe: the internationally active Weerts Logistics Parks (WLP) has completed a state-of-the-art, 11,500-square-meter logistics hall in Ebes. The investment amounts to 41 million euros.

This is the first major “speculative” investment by a foreign player in eastern Hungary. This means that

the Belgian-Hungarian WLP has realized the project without prior fixed rental agreements and at its own risk – a clear sign of confidence in the economic potential of the location.

The strategic choice of the 122,000-square-meter site has proven to be almost ideal, as the location of the logistics center benefits from several key advantages. Its close proximity to the new BMW plant ensures perfect connections to regional industry, while direct access to the M35 motorway guarantees smooth freight transport. This first-class infrastructure is rounded off by quick access to Debrecen International Airport, making the location a central hub for modern logistics chains.

Shortly after completion, the first partner was already presented. Ghibli Kft., an established player in the European logistics market since 1996, will use the location. Ghibli handles over 550,000 orders annually for industries such as automotive, electronics, and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods).

At the logistics center in Ebes, Ghibli Kft. intends to provide logistics tasks and services related to normal commercial activities.

Within this framework, it offers its partners road transport activities, modern warehouse logistics, as well as packaging, labeling, and order picking. Activities related to dangerous wares are not carried out at the site.

Behind the project is WLP, a company that manages over one million square meters of logistics space across Europe (including in Germany, France, and the UK). In Hungary alone, the company has created over 200,000 square meters of modern warehouse space in the last six years, underscoring its long-term ambitions in the country.
