Dominik Szoboszlai’s rising value has been the main topic of discussion recently on Transfermarkt, the largest football website.
In third place is the rise in Dominik Szoboszlai’s market value, which partly overlaps with the previous two categories, as Liverpool is one of only seven clubs in the world with a squad value exceeding €1 billion, and the Hungarian national team captain is tied for 10th place among Premier League players.
According to Transfermarkt, the clubs with the highest market value in the world are:
€1.35 billion – Real Madrid (Spain)
€1.29 billion – Manchester City (England)
€1.27 billion – Arsenal (England)
€1.20 billion – Paris Saint-Germain (France)
€1.16 billion – Chelsea (England)
€1.11 billion – Barcelona (Spain)
€1.04 billion – Liverpool (England)
€964.95 million – Bayern Munich (Germany)
€876.50 million – Tottenham (England)
€719.15 million – Manchester United (England)
His market value has increased 85-fold in just over seven years.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s market value first reached €1 million in the summer of 2018 when he moved from Liefering to Red Bull Salzburg’s senior team, and by the end of the year, that figure had doubled.
Following his second league title in 2019 and his first Austrian Cup victory, his value was estimated at €12 million, and after being voted the best player in the local Bundesliga in 2020, it reached €25 million.
On the first day of 2021, he transferred to German sister club RB Leipzig for even more, €36 million, as a four-time champion and three-time cup winner. His market value first exceeded this amount in March 2023 (€40 million).
After his second German Cup success, his name was already worth €50 million, and it was clear that he could not be kept in Leipzig for long. Liverpool activated his €70 million buyout clause, which was not at all daunting on the international market, increasing Szoboszlai’s market value to exactly that amount by September of that year.
The midfielder was first valued at €75 million in December 2023, then €80 million in March 2025, and since October, €85 million has been listed next to his name.
This season, he has already scored 10 goals and made 7 assists, even though, with a slight exaggeration, he has played in every position except goalkeeper, and his rise is constantly accompanied by words of praise, slowly elevating the national team captain to the ranks of world stars.
Or perhaps we can start to drop the “slowly” part, as the world’s sixth most valuable attacking midfielder ranks in the top 25 regardless of position, which we can safely call the international elite.
