Woman Gets Stuck In Elevator—Can’t Handle How She’s Rescued: ‘Crazy Scenario’
When an elevator suddenly stopped moving, one wheelchair user found herself in an unexpected predicament that quickly caught the attention of millions online.
On TikTok, user Liv Benedetto (@liv.benedetto) shared a video showcasing how she was rescued after getting trapped in an elevator on her college campus.
In the clip, Benedetto is pulled from the elevator by the Clemson University Fire Department using a ladder placed on the floor.
“Rare aesthetic: getting trapped in the elevator as a wheelchair user & needing to get pulled out,” the overlaid text reads.
The video has now been viewed more than 2.3 million times and prompted a wave of responses from TikTok users.
“This is such a crazy scenario, I’ve never thought about something like this before,” one wrote, while another noted, “Girl, you have had some WILD wheelchair experiences.”
As the moment of rescue plays out in the video, Benedetto appears composed, and when she is helped out of the elevator, she maintains a smile that many viewers pointed out in the comments.
”With a smile on your face the whole time too,” one contributor posted, with another adding, “And rolled over with the prettiest smile? I love your energy.”
This isn’t the first elevator entrapment to attract online attention, and Newsweek previously covered another viral social media video that showed three friends who got stuck in an elevator.
Twenty-four-year-old Juls, from Philadelphia, was heading back to her apartment after a fun night out with friends when they decided to jump together in the elevator. But the sudden movement caused it to stall, trapping them inside.
She described the moment as nerve-wracking but hilarious, calling it a lesson learned. The best part for her was capturing on video the exact moment the doors opened to reveal a firefighter standing above them, ready to help.
An Unexpected Trip
Another previous Newsweek story reported on a viral TikTok video that captured a dog accidentally taking the elevator by himself.
The TikTok clip, shared by user Jessica, shows the fluffy Pomeranian looking confused as he goes up the clear glass elevator all alone.
As the elevator door opens, the pup’s owner immediately walks in, holding what looks like a gift bag and a flower bouquet. The dog immediately starts wagging his tail and circling her, relieved to see his owner again.
“POV [point of view]: your dog accidentally gets the lift by himself,” reads layover text in the clip.
