“New initiatives are needed to promote peace globally,” the Prime Minister stated on Thursday in Washington at the first meeting of the Board of Peace initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump. Viktor Orbán also said that the situation in Gaza has a significant impact on Europe’s security.
During his speech the Hungarian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation on behalf of the Hungarian people for Donald Trump’s “tireless efforts for peace” around the world.
Viktor Orbán pointed out that, as prime minister, he represents a country that has been living in the shadow of a brutal war for four years.
We all know that this war would not have broken out, could not have broken out, if President Trump had been in office at the time,”
he noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that Donald Trump’s return to office offers a great opportunity to multiply peace efforts, not only in Gaza but also in Ukraine.

‘The security situation in the Middle East, especially in Gaza, has a significant impact on Europe’s security, which is why Hungary’s participation in the Board of Peace is based not only on principles but also on our own well-understood security interests,” PM Viktor Orbán said.
He noted that there is serious debate in Europe about the Board of Peace and what its future role will be.
He said: “In recent decades, international organizations have failed to fulfill their role and ensure peace and stability around the world, thus new initiatives are needed to advance the cause of peace globally.”
