‘Rigged’ Offside Call Sends Canada Past Finland to Olympic Gold Medal Game
The Canadian men’s hockey team is going to the gold medal game at the Winter Olympic Games after another thrilling comeback.
Two nights ago, Canada came from behind to beat Czechia in overtime.
On Friday, they fell behind by 2 goals and needed to fight back in the third period, not only to tie the game but to take the lead in the final minutes to push themselves to the championship on Sunday.
Canada will play the winner of the United States of America vs. Slovakia game later on tonight in Milan.
But the game did not end without controversy.

On the game-winning power play goal, the Finnish team challenged that teenage phenom Macklin Celebrini was offside as the Canadian team entered the zone.
The referees spent an extended time reviewing the replay, with Celebrini’s skate appearing to barely hang onto the blue paint long enough for his team to enter the offensive area.
After minutes of discussion, the Canadian fans in the arena celebrated as the officials determined that the goal on the ice would stand as there was no offside.
On social media, however, it was a whole different story with both sides firing shots back and forth on who was right in this close no-call.
Although he came close to having the goal overturned, it was another remarkable day for the 19-year-old Celebrini.
He was on the ice in the biggest moment of the game and had an assist on the game-winning Nathan MacKinnon goal.
On a team with multiple MVPs and superstars, the San Jose Sharks’ prince is already being trusted as one of the most important pieces on the Team Canada roster.
Celebrini will now play in the gold medal game at his first major international event as a senior player, having previously represented Canada on the junior circuit.
