Dunapark Café in 1937
Eventrend Group has signed a lease agreement with the owners of Dunapark Café to operate the facility. Based on this, renovation work will begin soon, which will involve the temporary closure of the café for 1-2 months. The 88-year-old café is expected to reopen at the end of May at the latest, welcoming guests with a new menu.
The lease agreement was signed by representatives of Eventrend Group with the owners, Gábor Ruffy-Varga and Miklós Ruffy-Varga.
According to the owners, Eventrend’s commitment to historical values and its successful operation of similar gastronomic and coffee house establishments provide a solid foundation for the next era of Dunapark Café.
Fact
The owners renovated and reopened Dunapark in 2006, and it has been a key player in the hospitality industry in Újlipótváros ever since. Dunapark is one of the most beautiful Art Deco coffee houses in the country.

Located next to Szent István Park, the 88-year-old institution, which opened in 1938, is a prominent venue for the capital’s coffee house culture with its huge, bright interior, floor-to-ceiling windows, and rich historical past.
Gábor Nagy, one of the founding owners of the Eventrend Group, said that the company’s goal is to preserve the architectural and historical values of Dunapark Café while further strengthening its position with renewed content and offerings that will make the place even more attractive to the local community as a lively meeting place.
Zoltán Kőrössy, co-founder and co-owner of Eventrend, added:
Plans for the renovation are already underway.”
The concept is based primarily on the existing clientele, the habits and feedback of regular guests. The goal is to create an even stronger local community space that offers the residents, workers, and visitors of Újlipótváros a historically authentic yet lively coffee house experience filled with contemporary content.
Budapest’s coffee house culture is uniquely rich in Europe. Based on the current plans, Dunapark Kávéház will close for a short time from April 15 to welcome old and new guests with a fresh look from mid- to late May.
The owners of Eventrend have confirmed that the group’s mission is to revive hospitality venues of historical and architectural value and to prove that these heritage sites can be attractive, unique community spaces that fill a gap in the 21st century.
