The official campaign for the parliamentary elections on April 12 began on Saturday. In accordance with the election law, the campaign starts 50 days before the election and lasts until the end of voting on election day. Potential candidates can now collect the necessary signatures.

Based on the practice of the National Election Commission (NVB) and the Supreme Court, only political activities carried out during the official campaign period are considered campaigning.

For the parliamentary elections on April 12, candidates can be nominated from February 21 to March 6 at 4 p.m.

The electoral offices have four days to review the recommendations. After that the electoral commissions decide on the registration of candidates, for which they need 500 valid recommendations.

Balázs Orbán, the Prime Minister’s Political Director, emphasized on Facebook that the party had launched its campaign on February 21 under the slogan “Fidesz – the safe choice” and was the first to collect the required signatures in all constituencies.

The Chairman of the TISZA party, Péter Magyar, said on Saturday in connection with the signature collection that the party had already collected more than 250,000 recommendations across the country by noon. However, this statement was refuted by official data.

According to the National Election Office, Fidesz submitted 196,000 signatures, while the Tisza Party submitted 110,000 signatures,”
