Volleyball Player Anett Németh Among The Top Scorers in Italy

The Italian women’s volleyball league (Serie A1) is considered one of the strongest in the world. This makes the success of Hungarian national player Anett Németh all the more remarkable, as she finished the regular season as the third-best point scorer in the entire league.

The 26-year-old opposite hitter, who plays for Chieri, scored a total of 465 points in the 26 games of the main round. In the prestigious scoring list, only two absolute world stars in the sport ranked ahead of her: Italian Olympic champions Paola Egonu (564 points) and Ekaterina Antropova (484 points).

Anett Németh thus confirmed her outstanding form from the previous year, when she finished second in this ranking while still playing for Perugia.

She underlined her effectiveness during the season with a strong average of 4.89 points per set.

Anett Németh demonstrated her versatility in a total of 95 sets:

• She scored 406 points through direct attacks.
• She contributed 36 points through successful blocks.
• She scored 23 points directly from her serve (aces).

Despite Anett Németh’s individual brilliance, her team Chieri suffered a setback shortly before the playoffs. The team held fourth place in the table for a long time, thus a surprising 3-2 defeat on the last match day against Perugia (where Hungarian Alíz Kump is under contract), which had already been relegated, shook up the table once again.

This defeat saw Chieri slip to fifth place. This has direct consequences for the final round. In the upcoming quarterfinal against Novara, which begins next Sunday, Chieri will now have to compete without the important home advantage. The series will be decided in a “best-of-three” format, meaning Chieri needs two wins to advance to the semifinals.
