A second Airbus A330 cargo aircraft will soon join the Hungary Airlines fleet, that is scheduled to fly five times a week between Hungary and China for logistics giant ZTO Express starting in April.
One year after its first commercial flight, Hungary Airlines, which specializes in air cargo transport, is debuting its new service on the international freight market: ZTO Express, one of China’s leading logistics companies and one of the world’s largest last mile delivery companies, has entrusted Hungary Airlines with CMI-based operations (Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), the airline told AIRportal.hu.
The cooperation represents a significant leap forward in the airline’s long-term operations. In addition to expanding its portfolio, the company will begin operating two aircraft, for which the Chinese party will provide an A330-200P2F transport vehicle.
Hungary Airlines currently operates scheduled flights between Budapest and Zhengzhou with an A330-243F aircraft (owned by the Hungarian state).
Based on the contract, Hungary Airlines will be responsible for the complex operation. Its tasks will include ensuring the continuity of crew and operational activities, maintaining the airworthiness of the aircraft and performing the associated maintenance, as well as comprehensive professional activities related to aircraft insurance.
The new flight is scheduled to operate five times a week between Hungary and China, carrying approximately 60 tons of cargo per flight.
“Stable, predictable operations based on expansion, this is the business approach taken by the Hungarian airline in accepting the ZTO Express contract,” said Gábor Talabos, CEO and COO of Hungary Airlines.
Listed on the U.S. stock exchange, the logistics company quickly became one of the world’s largest full-service logistics groups after its founding in 2002, serving major commercial companies such as Alibaba and JD.com.
The company director added: “The professional trust of this Asian giant has an invigorating effect not only on the Hungarian airline. The fact that such a long-established company has chosen Hungary Airlines as one of the fundamental pillars of its operations not only signals the company’s recognition, but also clearly reinforces Budapest’s role as a global hub.”
This will be the first A330-200P2F aircraft registered in Hungary.
The process is coordinated and supervised by the Aviation Supervisory Authority Department of the Ministry of Construction and Transport.
The aircraft, painted with the Hungary Airlines and ZTO logos, is scheduled to enter scheduled service in April this year.
In addition to the flawless execution of the order, the airline will focus on its strong presence in the global supply chain and the further development of its service capabilities in the near future, the announcement concludes.
