Why JetBlue Planes Were Grounded Nationwide

All JetBlue flights were briefly grounded nationwide by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Tuesday following a request from the airline.

The ground stop was lifted around 40 minutes later and services returned to normal.

“A brief system outage has been resolved and we have resumed operations,” a JetBlue spokesperson told NBC News.

The airline was founded more than 25 years ago and has its flagship terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
