A Look At The Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Parties Through The Years

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

The Kardashian-Jenner family has notoriously big holiday parties every year, but Kim Kardashian confirmed that they’re switching things up for the 2024 season and plan to have a more intimate family gathering.

The tradition originated with matriarch Kris Jenner hosting parties on Christmas Eve that all her kids remember fondly. Kim and her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, later took after their mother, Kris, and started hosting the events themselves.

The family has been hosting these year-end celebrations ever since Kris started in 1978, with some of their parties being documented in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality TV series about them, which premiered in 2007.

Despite announcing that they are opting to have a smaller function in 2024, it’s hard to say that the Kardashian-Jenner clan will not return with another over-the-top holiday bash in 2025, giving the other siblings — Rob, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie — a chance to host.

Since the family plans to take a more low-key approach and likely won’t have as many celebrity guests invited in 2024, here’s a look back at the last few bashes they’ve hosted.

2023

Kim hosted the party in 2023 and turned her house into a winter wonderland that featured a sledding hill with real snow in Southern California. Guests at the event were entertained in a pop-up ski lodge in Kim’s backyard, where they were also treated to a performance by R&B singer Babyface.

2022

In 2022, Kourtney took up the responsibility of throwing the end-of-the-year event. The theme of the party was described as “elegant Victorian meets fairy-like rustic, whimsical, woodsy, and downright mystical,” in an entry about the party on Poosh, Kourtney’s lifestyle blog. The main event was held in a massive glass tent erected in the Kardashian sister’s backyard with a performance by Sia.

2021 and 2020

The family felt it was necessary to cancel their plans to host a holiday party in 2021 as well as 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Khloé Kardashian announced that the family was not planning on hosting a party in 2020 after a fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) asked her about the yearly party. She responded, saying, “The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year,” before revealing, “It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe.” She later added, “Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”

The party was also canceled in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. The family didn’t issue a direct statement, but TMZ reported that a source close to the family revealed they wanted to “hold off on the elaborate bash.” The outlet also noted that, according to the source, the reason behind the cancellation was the “alarming rise of COVID-19 cases in the area.”

2019

In 2019, the event was also hosted by Kourtney, who turned her backyard into what Poosh referred to as “a cozy and whimsical space” that featured a Christmas tree hung upside down. Sia also provided musical entertainment that year. The singer was captured in a video that Kim took, where she jokingly told the family she wanted to be a part of it. “You guys are my favorite. I was looking to get an adult adoption from Kris, but we realized tonight that I could marry Rob!” Sia told the guests and her hosts before adding, “I didn’t realize there’s more than one way to become a Kardashian. Obviously that’s what I’m trying to do.”
