A$AP Rocky Says Son RZA Inherited This ‘Big’ Feature From Rihanna
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
A$AP Rocky has opened up about his two children, RZA and Riot, and which traits they share with him and long-time partner Rihanna.
In an interview with W Magazine, the 35-year-old rapper referenced his 2015 song “Jukebox Joint,” which contains the lyrics: “Ain’t nothing better than the pretty, big forehead b****” in reference to the “Umbrella” singer, 35. While Rocky says their son RZA is his “twin,” he’s glad that the “Diamond”singer passed her big forehead on to their toddler. “He got his mom’s forehead, but he got everything else from me. I love my boy’s big forehead! I loved it on his mother.”
Rocky, real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers, says that RZA, 2, is more introverted than his one-year-old brother, Riot. “I think Rza is going to keep to himself. He’s an introvert,” he told W. “Riot’s an extrovert—he’s just like his mom.”
The “F**kin’ Problems” artist said that he first met the pop and hip-hop singer when security was keeping him out of a nightclub. “I was kicked out of this nightclub. They wasn’t giving me no access to it. This is when I’m just starting out, so nobody knows me. I was with Matthew Williams and Virgil. I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn’t even know us, but she was like, ‘Yo! Why y’all not letting him in? What’s wrong with you?! Let that man in!’ ” From there, he said, they both knew they were meant to be, but it wasn’t until they were older that they “just kind of reconnected.”
Despite their fame, Rocky says his kids are figuring out their relationship just like any other siblings would. While “Riot looks up to Rza,” the artist said, it’s taking the older brother a little longer to feel the sibling bond. “I think Rza’s warming up to Riot.”
