Actress Holly Robinson Peete Defends Rodney Peete After Robbing Dodgers Out in Tokyo Series
Former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete went viral on social media when he caught a ball using a baseball glove at a Los Angeles Dodgers versus Chicago Cubs MLB game in Chicago.
The game was a highly anticipated one being the second part of the Tokyo Series, marking the start of the MLB regular season.
The play occurred in the sixth inning when the ball was hit into foul territory.

With infielder Max Muncy racing toward the fly ball, it seemed like he had a decent chance to make the catch. However, Peete had other plans, as he stuck his glove and casually caught just before Muncy could reach into the stands and make the catch himself.
While there is no guarantee Muncy would have caught the ball, the clip still went viral given the random nature of the event.

Part of any viral event is criticism, however. One main talking point of the play was why a former athlete at an MLB game needs a glove to catch a ball.
Peete’s Hollywood actress wife, Holly Robinson Peete, cleared things up on the event on social to defend her husband.
First off, the ball was heading straight towards according to a post she put on social media.
Not only was she grateful for her husband protecting him, but she also explained why he had a glove in the first place.
“He did not bring a glove with him and it didn’t even fit. They provided the glove and Helmet at Tokyo Dome for that section because of all the foul balls,” she posted in response to a comment mentioning him having a glove.
While Rodney Peete may have physically defended her at the ballpark, Holly Robinson Peete has been defending him online since the event went viral.
While her husband is famous himself as a former NFL quarterback, Holly Robinson Peete is arguably even more famous for her roles in the hit TV shows “21 Jump Street” and “Hanging With Mr. Cooper.”
While the MLB playing two games as part of a series in Japan was supposed to be the main talking point, the NFL and the Peete family are garnering a lot of attention of their own for this fun and random event.
