American detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan has been released
An American who had been detained for more than two years by the Taliban in Afghanistan has been released, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement on Thursday. The release was brokered by Qatar.
George Glezmann, a mechanic for Delta Airlines has left Kabul and is on his way back to the U.S., Rubio said.
Earlier this year, two other Americans were released from Afghanistan, Ryan Corbett and William McKenty, in a deal struck during the final days of the Biden administration, in exchange for a member of the Taliban being held in U.S. custody.
