Andy Reid Confirms Troubling Injury to Chiefs Star After Loss to Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs entered Highmark Stadium on Sunday for a highly anticipated showdown against the Buffalo Bills.

While they remained within striking distance throughout the game, especially in the fourth quarter while trailing by seven, they ultimately fell short, losing 28-21 and pushing Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s regular-season record against the Chiefs to 5-1.

Now sitting at 5-4 overall, Kansas City heads into its bye week, which comes at a much-needed time. Head coach Andy Reid confirmed some troubling injury news after the game regarding star tackle Jawaan Taylor, who suffered a right ankle injury in the loss.

“Alright, the only injury coming out of it was Jawaan Taylor, who hurt his right ankle,” Reid said postgame.

The injury occurred at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Joey Bosa sacked Patrick Mahomes after blowing past Jaylon Moore on the left side. Taylor, who had his back to Mahomes at the time, was rolled up on during the play.

The severity of the injury is currently unknown, and the team will likely conduct further testing this week to determine if it could sideline him for multiple games, or if he might be ready when the team returns from the bye week.

Meanwhile, Kansas City is currently operating with rookie left tackle Josh Simmons, who has been away from the team for several weeks due to personal reasons. Simmons is expected to rejoin the team soon, ideally this week, which would provide a major boost, especially if Taylor ends up missing an extended period.
