Aston Martin F1 Driver Adds Bespoke $2.5 Million Valiant To His Collection

Aston Martin collaborated with its Formula One driver Fernando Alonso to create one of the most “extreme” front-engined, track-focused supercars, the Valiant. Now, Alonso has added the ultra-rare supercar to his car collection.

Alonso helped develop the one-of-a-kind car, and it is no surprise that there lies a 5.2-liter V12 engine under the hood, producing 734 horsepower. One big highlight that could come across as a huge plus for petrolheads is the presence of a manual gearbox. Only 38 unique units of the Valiant have been made.

In collaboration with Q, each unit of the Valiant is bespoke, but its main priority remains raw performance. Aston Martin’s Marco Mattiacci was quoted by Newsweek Sports last year, who said that the Valiant “has been treated to an ‘obsessive weight-reduction’ programme.”

The Valiant made its debut last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Alonso. Now, the Spaniard was seen with his own Valiant on the streets of Monaco.

Planet F1 quoted Alonso’s statement about the Valiant. It read:

“Valour was a spectacular celebration of Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary and stirred me to create a more extreme, race car inspired version that was track-focused, while also delivering a thrilling drive on-road.

“Valiant is born from my passion for driving at the limit and I have enjoyed working closely with the Q by Aston Martin team on both the design and technical specification and believe we have created a masterpiece.”

Aston Martin calls the Valiant a vice in the form of a V12. It stated:

“Twinning the fearlessness of 70s race cars with the technology and materials of today’s pit lane. Originating from a personal commission from Fernando Alonso to build a car that is a monument to the thrill of driving. Without a single flinch of moderation. This is vice in the form of a V12.”

While Alonso could be a happy man off the race track, thanks to his new Valiant, he has asked Aston Martin to improve the performance of his AMR25 F1 car, as he finished outside the points in P11 in last weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix. He said:

“It was a difficult race today and despite our best efforts we missed out on the points,” he said after the Grand Prix.

“The first half of the race I had Pierre [Gasly] within one-second and then Yuki [Tsunoda] close for the second half of the race, so I couldn’t make a mistake.

“Suzuka is a great circuit, and I really enjoy racing here, but it’s very hard to overtake on this track. We need to improve our car performance going forward and I’m looking forward to that development.”
