Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Getting Twelve New Subclasses, Cross-Play, and More in 2025
More than a year into its release, Larian Studios continues to improve its magnum opus, Baldur’s Gate 3. Heading into 2025, the developer has revealed all the new features coming to BG3 in patch 8, including cross-platform multiplayer support and twelve new subclasses with “new abilities, animations, VFX, summons and cantrips.” BG3’s patch 8 will also finally add a much-requested feature – photo mode.
That’s a lot for a patch for a narratively-driven RPG, but that’s becoming Larian’s M.O. Patch 7 introduced mod support on consoles and thirteen new endings, so it’s natural for the developers to keep expanding the game.
All of the additional subclasses will change the way players engage with the game, with the Oathbreaker Knight getting unique voice lines and reactivity for Oathbreakers.
Here are all the new subclasses being added to Baldur’s Gate 3 in patch 8:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Like most photo modes in other triple-A games, Baldur’s Gate 3 will let players adjust the camera angle, add filters, adjust lens settings, adjust frames, add stickers, toggle characters and NPCs, and change other aspects of a shot before capturing the image.
All of these new changes will be stress-tested before going live. You can join the patch 8 stress test in early January, with Larian revealing more details at a later date. You can learn more about how each subclass will work on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 community update post.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
