The city of Chicago is celebrating like it’s 1986 after eliminating its heated NFC North rivals, Green Bay, from the NFL playoffs, but it’s not all good news coming out of the biggest postseason comeback in Bears history.
In the dying minutes of the game, starting left tackle Ozzy Trapilo was severely injured and taken off the field. While the madness of the two teams going blow-for-blow in trading touchdowns overshadowed the big man’s injury, disappointing news awaited the Bears as the adrenaline of victory began to wear off.
Head coach Ben Johnson confirmed it was a patellar (knee) injury and that Trapilo is out for the rest of the playoffs.
Trapilo was a steady cog in the trenches for the Bears on the offensive side of the ball, only allowing two sacks and three hits overall under his watch during the season.

Caleb Williams had to use his legs to scramble out of danger throughout the 18-point comeback victory, and he’ll have his hands full with Trapilo out of the lineup.
The Bears will either play the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, or the Los Angeles Rams, with both teams deploying elite defensive fronts with EDGE rushers that will be barreling down on Williams the entire game.
Per Pro Football Focus, Trapilo was graded 70 out of 100 in the 2025 regular season, ranking 36th out of 89 eligible offensive tackles.
The Boston-raised kid went to Boston College and was drafted last year by the Bears in the second round in hopes of helping keep Williams safe in his sophomore season.
