Best of MWC 2025: 12 Exciting Tech Products Coming This Year

Mobile World Congress 2025 has officially wrapped up, and there was a lot of ground-breaking technology on display.

The show, which is one of the largest technology trade shows in the world, was held in Barcelona, Spain, and we had a chance to hand-pick some of our favorite new technologies from the show.

MWC is generally focused on mobile technologies, hence the name. That usually means we get a slew of new smartphones, tablets, earbuds – anything that you can take with you on the go.

It also serves as center stage for new components for mobile devices to debut, as well as early glimpses into what the future could look like for the gadgets we use on a daily basis.

Here are Newsweek’s picks for the best of MWC 2025.

Lenovo ThinkBook Flip AI PC

Lenovo

Lenovo makes some of the coolest concepts in the PC market, and at MWC, it didn’t disappoint. The company demoed its new ThinkBook Flip AI PC, and it’s quite the sight to behold. Open the 13-inch laptop to have some screen real estate to work with, but unfold the lid portion of the screen and you’ll flip it to reveal a huge 18.1-inch panel. This gives you a ton more room to work with and makes having a big screen on the go a lot easier.

Honor Earbuds Open

Honor

A surprise hit at Mobile World Congress this year were the Honor Earbuds Open. Honor cooked up a really solid set of buds with a comfortable design that stays put, surprisingly good audio quality, and all the advantages of open-style earbuds so you can hear what’s going on around you. There are some AI features thrown in the mix, good battery life, and a sleek charging case to boot. At around $150, the Earbuds Open really surprised us this year.

Tecno Spark Slim

Tecno

With the introduction of the Galaxy S25 Edge and rumored iPhone 17 Air, it seems that companies are focusing once again on making their phones as razor-thin as possible. Enter Tecno, who has introduced the Spark Slim that measures in at 5.75mm and feels like nothing in your hand. We got to go hands-on with it at MWC, and it was honestly impressive how thin it was. Tecno was even able to fit two 50MP cameras in the back, a huge 5,200mAh battery, a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, and a speedy chip. It won’t be coming to market any time soon, but boy is it a cool gadget to behold.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra

Xiaomi

Speaking of which, you can’t talk about MWC 2025 without talking about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The big news with the 15 Ultra is the camera, which is once again humongous at 1-inch and can shoot incredible photos. The Leica-branded 200MP telephoto camera helps with zooming in and taking pretty portrait photos, and there’s even a special-edition photography kit that comes with a grip for better control over your phone when taking photos. It has all the high-end specs you could ask for, a slick design, and plenty of AI tricks to tickle your fancy.

Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro

Nothing

Nothing made a splash at MWC with the introduction of its new mid-range smartphones, and they’re quite the duo. The Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro offer a range of solid specs and unique looks with Nothing’s signature transparent design language on full display. They light up thanks to the Glyph LED lights on the back, they come with big 6.7-inch screens that look very pretty in person, and the software remains as unique as ever thanks to Nothing OS on top of Android. The (3a) Pro leans heavily on advanced cameras to stand out with a new periscope sensor, while the standard (3a) gets some important upgrades in the shooting department. Both are priced at less than $500, making them some of the most compelling phones we’ve seen so far this year.

HMD Amped Buds

HMD

A trend that’s sparked up over the years is reverse wireless charging, which lets you charge your earbuds or smartwatch with the back of your smartphone. But what if it was the other way around and your earbuds could charge your phone? That’s the idea behind HMD’s Amped Buds. The earbuds themselves seem interesting with ANC and upgraded drivers, but it’s the case that everyone is talking about: it comes with a 1,600mAh battery built into it, which allows you to charge your phone a bit if you’re running out of power. It’s an interesting concept that’ll make its way to the European market very soon.

Honor Watch 5 Ultra

Honor

Honor announced what could be a top-tier Android smartwatch for 2025 at MWC. Called the Watch 5 Ultra, the wearable is equipped with up to 15 days of battery life, which is far longer than any Apple Watch can last. It’s thanks to a special dual-chip design that other companies like OnePlus has used, allowing the system to balance power and run far more efficiently than most smartwatches. Plus, it comes with a beautiful design, Wear OS, and a big AMOLED screen.

Realme Ultra concept

Realme

One of the coolest concepts we saw at MWC was a smartphone that can turn into a full-on DSLR camera. Realme unveiled its new Ultra smartphone that looks vaguely like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, but look closely and you’ll see a special design on the back for the camera bump. It’s a latching system that lets you connect lenses to the back of your phone, allowing you to zoom easier, take more detailed photos, and have greater control over your images. It was interesting to see in the demo Realme gave us, and it’s one concept I personally hope makes it to the market someday.

SATELLAI Tracker

SATELLAI

Making it easier to keep your pets safe is an important mission for a lot of tech companies, and SATELLAI has made it a goal to make knowing where your pets are a breeze. The company’s new AI-integrated Tracker is the world’s first always-connected pet tracker powered by satellites. It uses multiple satellite positioning systems and connects through over 680 networks in over 180 countries to spot where your pet is, even operating through thick trees and wilderness. It charges over solar so it won’t die, and it’s IP68 rated so it’ll work in various conditions.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13

Lenovo

Lenovo introduced its sixth-generation ThinkPad X13 at MWC, and it stood out to us thanks to its form factor. The laptop is one of the lightest we’ve ever seen from Lenovo’s ThinkPad series, weighing in at just 2.05 pounds. That’s even lighter than Apple’s MacBook Air, which weighs 2.7 pounds. The new X13 also comes with solid specs with Intel and AMD’s latest chip offerings, up to 64GB of RAM, 2TB of storage, and a big battery. Plus, you get Lenovo’s signature Thinkpad keyboard with TrackPoint.

Motorola Smart Connect

Motorola

Motorola’s Smart Connect technology has allowed you to connect your Motorola phone to your Lenovo laptop for seamlessly transferring files, managing apps, and more. At MWC, Motorola announced a big upgrade for the system that makes it more accessible to everyone. Now, you can use it on any Windows 11 (or Windows 10) PC – not just a Lenovo laptop. What’s more, new AI features allow you to use advanced voice commands to complete complex tasks with ease, like asking to find receipts on your phone and moving them to your laptop. It’s a neat system that more companies should adopt (could you imagine if you could do that between your iPhone and Mac?).

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro

Xiaomi

The headphone industry has been waiting for the day that it no longer has to rely on Bluetooth to connect to your device, and Wi-Fi is one way to do that. At MWC, Xiaomi unveiled the world’s first pair of Wi-Fi-equipped earbuds called the Buds 5 Pro. They support lossless audio playback over Wi-Fi thanks to new XPAN (Expanded Personal Area Network) technology, which also lets you walk away from your phone and continue listening without interruptions. That’s something Bluetooth simply can’t do, which gives these buds a serious edge. Plus, they’ll be priced around $250 when they go on sale in international markets.
