Biden Admin Accused of Colluding With Anti-Gun Groups

President Joe Biden’s administration was accused this week of colluding with anti-gun groups by Republicans.

On Friday, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee announced on X, formerly Twitter, that they were “investigating potential collaboration between the Biden Administration and anti-Second Amendment plaintiffs (including the city of Chicago) on pending litigation targeting Glock, Inc.”

“Glock is one of the largest providers of firearms to the civilian and law enforcement communities in America. An estimated 65% of law enforcement agencies across the country carry Glocks as their primary sidearm,” the Oversight Committee said. “These plaintiffs are seeking to financially punish and restrict continued operation of a firearm manufacturer for illegal, aftermarket alterations being made by criminals to their product after they have been lawfully sold.”

In a letter to the White House Office on Gun Violence Prevention, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said that the investigation stemmed from a recent lawsuit filed by the city of Chicago, along with “Everytown Law, a pro-gun control organization,” which alleged that “Glock, Inc. has willfully sold pistols that can be converted into fully automatic weapons.”

Earlier this month, Biden delivered a speech at the Everytown’s Gun Sense University, where he spoke about his administration’s efforts to combat gun violence across the U.S.

During his speech, Biden touted a decline in murder rates during his administration saying, “Last year, we also saw one of the lowest rates of all violent crime in nearly 50 years. Murder, rape, aggravated assault, robbery all dropped sharply, along with burglary and property crime.”

“We also made gun trafficking and straw purchasing a federal crime for the first time, giving prosecutors the legal tools to charge traffickers and hold them accountable for the more severe penalties that are available,” Biden said.

However, the Oversight Committee is alleging that the White House met “privately” with officials from Glock Inc. and requested that the company make it harder for the “auto-sear” part to be installed.

“The suit focuses on the availability and use by criminals of “auto sears”, a part manufactured by third parties and designed to circumvent the safety design of the pistol which, as sold by Glock, is semi-automatic, meaning one and only one round will be fired with each pull of the trigger. The use of auto sears disables the design of the guns’ design, allowing continuous fire with each trigger pull, a clear and undisputed violation of the NFA,” Comer said in his letter to the White House Office on Gun Violence Prevention.

In his letter, Comer requested documents and information relating to the communication between the White House the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Everytown for Gun Safety.
