Bills Defensive Linemen Make Great First Impression Against Giants

The Buffalo Bills defense gave up 34 points to the New York Giants in Saturday’s preseason game. It’s certainly not great, but it wasn’t all bad.
This game was the first opportunity for Bills fans to see some new faces, and as ESPN’s Alaina Getzenburg points out, some members of the defensive line had strong performances.

“The Bills made several additions to the defensive line this offseason, and some of those new faces popped,” wrote Getzenburg. “Two of the Bills’ rookie defensive linemen made strong first impressions. Second-round defensive tackle T.J. Sanders nearly sacked Dart on his touchdown throw in the first half. DT Deone Walker, a fourth-round pick, got pressure and then batted down a pass from Dart, finishing with two quarterback pressures. Despite the Bills limiting his practice time, defensive end Joey Bosa played 10 snaps over two drives with the first-team defense and made a solid first impression.”
All three names listed above are going to be relied upon this season for the Bills defensively. Defensive coordinator Bobby Babich is going to do whatever he can to help keep Bosa healthy as he has dealt with a variety of injuries throughout his career.
Buffalo has lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs four of the last five seasons, and Patrick Mahomes has put up 27-plus points in each of those matchups. For the Bills, limiting him starts with the pressure up front.
If Sanders can develop into a dominant defensive tackle as a three-technique and Bosa can stay healthy, the Bills defensive line could be one of the best in the NFL.
