Blue Jays’ Trey Yesavage Breaks 76-Year World Series Record
Toronto Blue Jays rookie right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage has made MLB history in Game 5 of the 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yesavage has broken the record for strikeouts by a rookie in a World Series Game after getting his 12th of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Yesavage passed Don Newcombe, who set the record in 1949 as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Yesavage has been outright dominant in Game 5 on the road at Dodger Stadium in the biggest game of the 2025 season.
The rookie hasn’t been fazed by the the moment, instead shutting down a high-powered Dodgers lineup.
Yesavage struck out every member of the Dodgers lineup before the sixth inning, proving that no one could touch him on Wednesday night.
