Bride ‘Explicitly’ Says No Light Colors at Wedding, Then See Sister’s Dress
A bride-to-be has taken to the internet to share her frustration after discovering the dress her sister plans to wear to her wedding.
Despite explicitly banning pale colors, the bride’s sister picked out a pale blue floor-length dress that appeared more white than blue. The bride, who wanted to stay anonymous, vented her frustration on Reddit where the post quickly went viral on the r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit. In the post she shared a picture of the dress, a floor-length style from Peppermayo.
“Since the beginning of planning the wedding I’ve been worried about what my family would wear because my mom said she would be the second most important woman at the event,” the bride told Newsweek. “She likes to wear shiny and extravagant dresses, so we decided to implement a dress code, that explicitly said no pale or light colors and no shiny dresses.”
But when her sister showed their other sibling the dress she planned to wear, news of the outfit got back to the bride, who was stunned.

“I was shocked. I thought it was going to be a shiny dress, but I didn’t expect the lack of judgement it takes to choose a white dress,” she said. “When I confronted her she responded by saying that it wasn’t white, but pale blue.”
After discussing it with her sister, they managed to reach an agreement. “I don’t think she is going to be wearing it to the wedding. She simply liked the dress and didn’t realize it would be a problem,” the bride clarified.
The post quickly gained traction, amassing tens of thousands of reactions and thousands of comments. While some commenters sympathized with the bride, others were harsher, even suggesting she should disinvite her sister from the wedding.
“Tell her to find something else or she can stay home,” said one commenter.
While another wrote: “Congratulations on the double wedding… and if your sister isn’t getting married too then she needs to choose to wear something that isn’t a wedding dress!”
“If you don’t uninvite her, please ask your photographer to photoshop every picture of her to be wearing baby poop green,” said another Redditor.
The bride was a little stunned by the responses and explained that there was no ill-will between her and her sister. “I obviously love my sister and am not going to uninvite her from the wedding as half the comments recommended. I really believe it wasn’t ill intent or attention-seeking—she simply has some issues foreseeing the consequences of her choices and how they affect the other people around her,” she said.
Despite the online debate, the bride hopes to keep the peace within her family. “She doesn’t know about the post and I hope she won’t find out either,” she explained.
