A number of celebrities have expressed their disappointment at Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
From Barbra Streisand to Jamie Lee Curtis, many took to social media to make their feelings known as Trump was inaugurated on Monday.

Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States at a ceremony at Capitol Hill on Monday.
During his inauguration speech, he promised swift and sweeping changes and later signed multiple executive orders. Some of those orders including rescinding birthright citizenship, pardoning some of the January 6 insurrectionists and withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement.

What to Know
While some celebrities celebrated Trump’s inauguration, many expressed their concerns for the future of the country.
Some sent their thanks and farewell to outgoing President Joe Biden, while others pointed to policy areas Trump has vowed to tackle in his second presidency.
Trump declared a “state of emergency” at the southern U.S. and Mexico border to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and said he wanted to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
He also vowed to end diversity and inclusion initiatives in the federal government and to roll back rights for transgender people.
“As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” Trump said during his inaugural speech.

Funny Girl actress Streisand slammed Trump for “selling branded merchandise” and “cashing in on the office,” in a post on BlueSky.
She also had a message about Biden’s “commitment and compassion,” which “we will miss.”
“He knows that in times of national crisis, we are not divided by political parties,” Streisand wrote.
Vocal Trump critic and horror author Stephen King also shared his thoughts on the changing of the presidential guard.
“Donald Trump will be indoors for the inauguration with his billionaire pals. His core supporters will be left outside in the cold. Think about that,” he wrote on BlueSky, referring to the last-minute decision to move the ceremony inside due to extreme winter conditions.
King later added on Monday: “That Biden should have to issue preemptive pardons for men and women who defended the Constitution is a sad comment on Trump’s vengeful nature.”
Singer Ariana Grande shared some thoughts on the new administration from a range of LGBTQ+ advocates, including lawyer and transgender activist Chase Strangio.
She reshared one of his Instagram posts to her stories where he rallied his followers by warning that Trump’s executive orders about LGBTQ+ people will only be “glorified press releases designed to create confusion and chaos.”
“Our freedom, our joy, our unabashed defiance, will continue to destabilize the structures they so desperately cling to,” he wrote.
Grande also shared messages of empowerment from transgender advocacy group Trans Equality Now and podcaster, Matt Bernstein.
Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis also took to her Instagram stories to share another’s words in response to Trump’s inauguration. The Halloween actress shared a poem by Loryn Brantz titled Inauguration 2025.
In the poem, Brantz says love, faith, community and education are acts of resistance in times of hate, misinformation and fear.
“In times like this, joy is an act of resistance,” the poem reads. “Resist. Resist. Resist.”
Rapper and Law & Order star Ice-T also slammed Trump, highlighting his criminal conviction for paying hush money to an adult film film during his 2016 presidential campaign.

High Fidelity actor John Cusack told his followers not to bother watching the inauguration.
“I recommend not to watch one second of the inaugural snuff film currently being broadcast. It is totally meaningless,” he wrote on X.
