Chargers’ Joey Bosa Can Now Play With Nick Bosa Following Shocking Release
After nine seasons with the team, the Los Angeles Chargers have shockingly released defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa has been dealt with plenty of injuries in his career, and the Chargers saved a staggering $25 million on their cap by releasing the star player.

Bosa ended the season with 22 total tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. He also appeared in 14 games.
Through the last three seasons, Bosa has appeared in 28 games. He was more healthy in 2024, but the Chargers chose to move on from their former nine-year star.

There should be plenty of suitors that are going to want to attempt to sign Joey, but one big one could be the San Francisco 49ers. The team also has a star pass rusher, Nick Bosa, Joey’s brother.
Nick has stated many times over that he would love to play with his brother before his career ends, that can now be a reality. When healthy, Joey is one of the most disruptive pass rushers in the league.
Pairing Joey and Nick together would be a smart move on the 49ers’ part, but it would all depend on what kind of contract Joey is looking for. Despite his injuries, he has produced 72 sacks in nine seasons, which is good for an eight-sack average.
The biggest issue is Joey being able to stay on the field. Still, the 49ers could use Joey, especially if they lose some of their star talent to free agency.
Dre Greenlaw, DaVondre Campbell, and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles are a few of the names of linebackers who are set to become free agents. If all three find new teams in 2025, the 49ers could make a move to try and bring in Joey.
Joey and Nick playing on the same team would be a very rare occurrence of brothers playing on the same team, and on the same side of the field as well. There are plenty of instances of brothers in the NFL like Travis and Jason Kelce, Devin and Jason McCourty, and J.J. and Derek Watt, but many of them did not share the same team or field.
Joey and Nick could become a special duo for the 49ers in more ways than one. The good news is that San Francisco can also work on a new deal as Joey has officially been released.
