China Strikes Back Over US Tariffs Imposed by Trump
China hit back at the 10 percent tariffs imposed on the country by President Donald Trump with tariffs of its own Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
A statement from the Chinese Ministry of Finance said it would implement a 15 percent tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas products as well as a 10 percent tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-engine cars imported from the U.S.
The statement criticized the tariff move by the U.S.: “It is not only unhelpful in solving its own problems, but also damages normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the US.”
China’s tariffs on U.S. imports are scheduled to take effect next Monday.
