CM Punk Reacts To WWE Royal Rumble Backlash
Royal Rumble 2025 was a massive success, setting a high precedent for every other premium live event this year.
A large part of this was because it was capped off with Jey Uso shockingly coming out on top over John Cena during the Men’s Royal Rumble.

While this got a massive reaction from the crowd, a very vocal group online is upset with the win, at least partially because a ton of people wanted CM Punk to win.
In the days since it happened, wrestling fans seem split in half as to whether this was the right decision or not. Now, CM Punk himself has given his opinion.

During an interview on the GoodyGuy / Bad Guy podcast, CM Punk weighed in on the Royal Rumble and its surprising conclusion.
“I think Jey winning is fantastic,” CM Punk said. “But when you have somebody in there like John Cena that everyone is going to immediately assume, ‘Oh, LOL, Cena is going to win.'”
CM Punk then went on to address all of the hate from fans on the internet directed
“When there are 30 people in the Rumble, male or female, that is 30 fanbases, at least 29 fanbases, that are going to converge and absolutely hate whoever wins the Rumble,” Punk continued. “It doesn’t matter who won it.”

There’s no doubt that “Yeet” and his entrance are wildly over. In fact, the crowd on the Raw after the Royal Rumble basically demanded that he redo his entrance.
But a gesture and a catchphrase don’t sell merchandise. Characters do. People do. And shortly afterward, Jey Uso proved why the WWE Universe loves him.
The people love Jey Uso because Jey Uso loves the people. He has been working unbelievably hard in WWE for the past 15 years and knows that they are what makes a wrestler successful.
And now, he gets a chance to prove himself on the grandest stage of them all,
