Ward was engaging in warmups before the Colts took on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. A video of the incident emerged online, showcasing Ward catching a pass and colliding hard with his teammate.

Ward’s head snapped back and he was seen hitting the turf and remaining there for multiple minutes. Training staff attended to the Colts defender and assisted him off the field. He was immediately ruled out before kickoff began.
Now, Ward will spend the next four games on IR due to a concussion. Clearly, the concussion was significant enough to keep him sidelined for multiple weeks.
Ward had three passes defended and 13 total tackles through four games of action. He also gave up a 60.9 completion percentage and a 90.5 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks when targeted. He was definitely showcasing some lockdown capabilities before the injury occurred.
It will be interesting to see what the Colts will do with Ward now being placed on IR. The trade deadline is fast approaching and secondary help will be needed for the team.
The Colts currently have Justin Walley, Daniel Scott, Hunter Wohler, Jaylon Jones, and now Ward on IR. The secondary is starting to look thin, so it would be expected that Indianapolis may target a corner or safety ahead of the trade deadline.
