Commanders Get Major Jayden Daniels Injury Update for Packers Game
After a season-opening win against division rivals, the New York Giants, head coach Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders will look to continue their winning ways in Week 2.
They’ll have a tough matchup against the Green Bay Packers, also 1-0, led by young star Jordan Love at quarterback.
As Commanders fans know, Washington also has their young star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, who nearly led them to the Super Bowl as a rookie.

On Tuesday, Tom Pelissero reported that head coach Quinn had “zero concerns” about Daniels’ injury. As of this writing, Daniels is expected to start for the Commanders and play in Thursday night’s game.
According to Pelissero, Daniels appeared on Monday’s “estimated injury report” for a wrist injury. Per NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, the Commanders didn’t practice on Monday, but estimated Daniels would have been a “full participant.”
In Sunday’s 21-6 victory against the Giants, he completed 19-of-30 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown. Daniels also ran for 68 yards, again proving himself as part of the NFL’s new era of dual-threat quarterbacks.
Along with those stats, Giants defenders recorded three sacks on Daniels for a loss of 21 yards. However, there were no signs that he suffered an injury or tweaked his wrist during the game.
Daniels was all smiles after the win while speaking to Fox Sports commentator and NFL legend, Tom Brady. He received the LFG Player of the Game Award for his contributions in the team’s win.
The 24-year-old QB had a healthy 2024 season as he started and participated in all 17 of his team’s regular-season games. He also played in each of their three playoff games.
If needed, the Commanders have backup quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Josh Johnson on their depth chart. Based on Quinn’s remarks, it appears Daniels should be good to go for the game.
