Construction output down by 4.5 percent


Construction output volume, based on raw data, lagged behind the previous year’s level by 4.5% in February 2025. Out of the main groups of construction the construction of buildings lessened by 11.0%, that of civil engineering grew by 15.3%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices construction output was under the January 2025 level by 1.3%.

In February 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year output in the two main groups of construction changed oppositely: the construction of buildings decreased by 11.0%, that of civil engineering expanded by 15.3%.

Among the divisions of construction, production volume decreased by 11.2% in the construction of buildings, and grew by 44.0% in civil engineering compared to the low base of the previous year. Production in specialised construction activities, having the largest weight in construction, fell by 10.9%.

The volume of new contracts concluded went down by 15.5%, year-on-year. Within it the volume of contracts for the construction of buildings rose by 12.0%, those for civil engineering works, compared to the high base of the previous year, fell by 32.9%.

The volume of the end-of-February stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 1.8% higher than one year earlier, within it the volume of contracts was down by 6.9% for the construction of buildings and grew by 8.9% for civil engineering works compared to February 2024.

In the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year the production in construction was 7.0% lower.
