The Cowboys have given up the sixth-most rushing yards per game in the NFL, and a lot of advanced stats show them to be among the worst run defenses in the NFL.
DVOA ranks the Cowboys with the fourth-worst run defense in the NFL. According to FantasyPoints, the ‘Boys are allowing the sixth-most rushing yards before contact per attempt and the second-lowest stuff rate as well.
They have allowed some monster rushing performances on the year, as detailed below:
- Alvin Kamara: 20 carries for 115 yards and three TDs
- Derrick Henry: 25 carries for 151 yards and two TDs
- David Montgomery: 12 carries for 80 yards and two TDs
- Jahmry Gibbs: 12 carries for 63 yards
This Cowboys defense has also allowed 40-plus points twice this season.
Injuries to the wide receiver have left the 49ers with some unknowns in the passing game, but they have, for the most part, consistently been able to move the ball on the ground.
Overall, Mason has the second-most rushing yards in the NFL, with the fourth-most yards per game (95.3) as well. He should have another big game in this matchup against the Cowboys.
Jordan Mason over 79.5 rushing yards (-110): 1 Unit
Dak Prescott 250+ Pass. Yards (+100) DraftKings
While it has definitely been a rough season overall for Prescott and this Cowboys offense, this passing line on Prescott has dropped too far, which we will gladly take advantage of.
This is a number that Prescott has hit in three of the last five games this season, including two games when he actually went over 350 yards passing.
Even in a not-ideal matchup against a solid 49ers defense, the over is the way to go here. One of the games where Prescott threw for over 350 yards was against the Steelers, whose defense has allowed just 234.9 passing yards per game this year.
The Cowboys pass at the 11th-highest frequency in a neutral game script, but the good news is that they pass at a high rate regardless of whether they are losing or winning by more than seven.
Dallas has a pass rate of 58.1 percent when leading by seven-plus (third-highest in the NFL) and a pass rate of 75.6 percent when trailing by seven-plus (seventh-highest). Overall, the Cowboys pass the ball 66.7 percent of the time, which is fourth-most in the NFL.
The Cowboys are coming off their bye week, and that is when Dak Prescott and this passing offense took off last year. Of course, it is an unknown if history is going to repeat itself, but the hope here is the Cowboys spent the bye week looking in the mirror, just as they did last year.
Last year, Prescott averaged 265.5 passing yards per game on the year (seventh-most). But after his team’s Week 7 bye, that number skyrocketed to 289.4 passing yards per game (third-most).
Since last year’s bye week (including the playoffs, plus six games this season), Prescott has hit at least 250 passing yards in 14 of 19 games. Look for him to have another solid passing outing on Sunday night.
Dak Prescott 250+ passing yards (+100): 1 Unit
