Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong Becoming One of Game’s Best Young Stars

One of the toughest decisions the Chicago Cubs front office has ever faced was entering their rebuild in 2021. During that rebuild, they traded fan-favorite Javier Baez to the New York Mets for an 18-year-old centerfielder named Pete Crow-Armstrong.
It was known when the trade was made that Crow-Armstrong was still a few years away from being ready for big league action. It was also known that he was going to be a major player when he finally reached the big leagues.

Things didn’t click right away for PCA, as he went 0-for-16 in limited action at the end of the 2023 season. Last season was much better, as he hit .247 with 10 home runs in 123 games. So far, this season looks like it will be the breakout season for Crow-Armstrong.
Crow-Armstrong has played in every game for Chicago this season, and he has shown why he was so highly sought when he was only a teenager. He is batting .294 with nine doubles, five home runs, 17 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
After two extra-base hits and two stolen bases in Wednesday’s win, he became the first player to ever have five home runs, 15 extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases before the month of April was complete.
Another stat of note is that Crow-Armstrong has come around the bases to score a run 21 times already this season. He scored just 46 runs last season, showing how impressive he and the Cubs offense has been at producing and manufacturing runs so far.
Crow-Armstrong has all the makings to be a superstar in the league for the next 10 seasons, and it will be interesting to watch just how high of a level he can perform at not only this season, but in seasons to come as well.
