Just as the Seattle Seahawks were wrapping up their Super Bowl LX matchup with a victory over the New England Patriots, the viral video of former Dallas Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence discussing his move to Seattle went viral again.
It was a quote that many heard throughout the 2025 NFL season, as the Seahawks thrived, and the Cowboys disappointed.
“Change of scenery is always good, but Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said last March. “Made my home there, my family lives there. I’m forever gonna be there, but I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there. So, yeah … we here.”
Lawrence hadn’t seen a Super Bowl since joining the Cowboys in 2014. He spent 11 seasons there, becoming one of the league’s most recognizable pass rushers. Playoff success was hard to come by. Just one year after leaving the Cowboys, Lawrence is a Super Bowl champion.
The former Dallas Cowboys star, Dez Bryant, took to social media to send a congratulatory message to Lawrence.
Similar to Lawrence, Bryant spent most of his career playing for the Cowboys. He was a top wide receiver in the league for a good chunk of his career. Unfortunately for Bryant, the Cowboys didn’t have much playoff success in his prime. They played in just three playoff games, with one win.
Bryant didn’t have the same success as Lawrence after leaving Dallas. He got injured while on the New Orleans Saints and appeared in just six games with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020, before calling it a career.
Knowing what a Super Bowl would’ve meant to him, Bryant is happy for his former teammate. Lawrence went to Seattle and started 16 games. He racked up 53 tackles and 6.0 sacks throughout the year.
Last offseason, Lawrence signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks for $32.5 million. Barring any unexpected moves, he should be back in Seattle for the 2026 NFL season, helping the Seahawks defend their title.
