Dodgers Poach Yankees Outfielder on Waivers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a roster move, claiming outfielder Mike Siani and designating infielder Andy Ibanez for assignment.

The Dodgers had just designated Siani for assignment more than a week ago when they unveiled superstar Kyle Tucker.

Siani has bounced around the league recently, namely at the behest of the Dodgers. On Dec. 12, he was claimed by the Dodgers from the Cincinnati Reds.

On January 21, the Dodgers designated him. The Yankees claimed Siani on January 23, but New York designated him on January 28.

The Dodgers then respond by claiming Siani off waivers, completing the current circle and having him land on the team that he first joined this offseason.

Los Angeles’ move was mostly surprising, given they signed Ibanez to a major league contract over the offseason, hoping to bolster their infield depth amid injuries, though they have seemingly prioritized outfield depth instead, with Siani helping to cover for other players.

Siani will fill in the rotation in the outfield that includes Kyle Tucker, Teoscar Hernandez, and Andy Pages as the starters.
