Donald Trump Furniture Tariffs: Increases Postponed Amid Trade Talks

President Donald Trump signed a New Year’s Eve proclamation delaying steep tariff hikes on imported furniture and cabinets for a year, citing ongoing trade talks. The order keeps in place a 25% tariff imposed in September but postpones increases to 30% on upholstered furniture and 50% on kitchen cabinets and vanities that were set to take effect Jan. 1.

The Trump administration also signaled Wednesday it may retreat from a proposed 107% tariff on Italian pasta.
