Donald Trump Hasn’t Posted on Truth Social Since Winning Election

President-elect Donald Trump has remained silent on Truth Social since shortly before he was declared the winner of this week’s presidential election.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris with a decisive win early on Wednesday morning. Fox News called the race for Trump shortly before 2 a.m. Eastern time, and the president-elect addressed supporters in Florida minutes later. The Associated Press called the election at 5:38 a.m. after determining that Trump had attained the required 270 Electoral College votes to win the race.

By the time of his victory speech, Trump had been silent on Truth Social for over four hours. His last post was at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, when he reminded voters that polls closed in one hour in California, a state he did not win. Trump, who is typically very active on social media, has since remained silent on Truth Social, as of 4 p.m. on Thursday. His account on X (formerly Twitter) has also fallen silent.

Newsweek reached out via email for comment to Trump’s office on Thursday.

The bulk of Trump’s Election Day posts were messages urging his supporters to “stay in line” at polling places. However, Trump did briefly share unsubstantiated claims that Democrats were “cheating” in Pennsylvania and Michigan following reports of high turnout in Philadelphia.

“A lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming!!!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post at 4:39 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Philadelphia and Detroit! Heavy Law Enforcement is there!!!” he added at 5:55 p.m.

The stock price for Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that controls Truth Social, dramatically shot up following the election result, before then plunging sharply to its lowest point in weeks. Shares closed at around $27 on Thursday, well below the $42 per share they reached just after Trump’s win.

Harris delivered her concession speech at Howard University on Wednesday afternoon, and her X account made several posts quoting the speech. The vice president urged supporters to let “the light of optimism” guide them “toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America.”

In Trump’s victory speech, which was delivered in West Palm Beach, Florida, at around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the president-elect took credit for leading what he called “the greatest political movement of all time.”

“This is a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and, frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time,” Trump said. “There’s never been anything like this in this country…. Now it’s going to reach a new level of importance because we’re going to help our country heal.”

He added: “This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again. America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”
