Drinking water banned again – The Budapest Times
In order to protect the population, the government office of the capital has ordered an immediate ban on drinking water consumption in Ráckeve in Pest County.
The official tests carried out in the city revealed an arsenic content above the limit value in the water supply network.
At the same time, the responsible waterworks Dabas and the surrounding area (DAKÖV) were instructed to immediately identify the cause of the water quality problem, take the necessary measures to eliminate it and keep the authority informed. The water supplier is obliged to provide the population with drinking water of suitable quality and to inform citizens about the form of water supply in a comprehensible manner.
The government office checks the responsibility of the service provider and compliance with the obligations. Non-compliance may result in a fine of up to HUF 5 million. The prohibition measure remains in force until the measurements of the waterworks and the authority show that the water quality has permanently and reliably returned to an appropriate quality.
