Duke Reacts to Historic News on Cameron Boozer Ahead of March Madness

The Duke Blue Devils are the top overall seed heading into this week’s ACC Tournament and are currently projected to enter NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed.

Head coach Jon Scheyer’s team boasts a plethora of talent across the roster, but leading the charge this season has certainly been true freshman forward Cameron Boozer, the son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer.

Boozer has been nothing short of dominant, averaging 22.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 58.3% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc.

On Monday, the ACC announced that Cameron Boozer had been named both Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, becoming just the fifth player in conference history to win both awards in the same season. He was also named to the All-ACC First Team in the process.

The Duke Blue Devils reacted to the news by posting check marks next to each of his accomplishments before adding, “Best player in the nation,” at the end.

Boozer and the Blue Devils will be back in action Thursday when they play their quarterfinal matchup in the ACC Tournament after receiving a double bye.

To win the conference tournament, they’ll need to string together three wins across Thursday, Friday and Saturday before eventually finding out their seed and opponent for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which begins next week.
