Eight more Hungarian citizens in Sudan in safety soon
An additional eight Hungarian citizens will be in safety in Sudan soon, they are all well and communication with them is ongoing, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Tuesday.
The ministry cited Szijjarto saying at the airport in Sofia that his colleagues were in personal contact with Hungarians evacuated to Ethiopia and Djibouti. He said paperwork was being prepared for them to return home.
There are only two Hungarians still in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, where fighting was under way, he said.
“The remaining total of eight people are very close to meeting colleagues delegated by the embassies or consulates in the region at the agreed security points,” he said.
He expressed hope that “further good news are on the way within a few hours”.
“I will continually update you on the progress of the evacuations,” he added.
