Elon Musk Shares ‘Trump 2032’ Hat Picture
Elon Musk has circulated images of a “Trump 2032” cap online after President Donald Trump began selling merchandise indicating that he might run for a third term.
The billionaire tech CEO shared a post that said Trump winning another election would be “the most entertaining outcome,” after the president said that he was “not joking” about considering a third term in office.
Newsweek contacted the Trump Organization for comment on the merchandise.
The Context
Trump, has repeatedly suggested that he could run for president again in 2028. Though his comments often seem tongue in cheek, he said in March that he was “not joking” about considering a third term. If the president decides to run for another term, he may propose legal routes never before tested in U.S. history.
What To Know
Musk shared an image of a red MAGA cap with “Trump 2032” written on it, jokingly referring to the election that would take place in that year.
The cap, which does not exist as official merchandise, appears to be AI-generated.
However, the Trump Organization began selling Trump 2028 merch this week, with both the staple red cap and a shirt that says “rewrite the rules” underneath the slogan.

The slogan refers to a change in the constitution that would likely be necessary for Trump to run again, as presidents are currently barred from holding office for more than two terms, after President Franklin Roosevelt ran for four.
Musk also shared an image of Eric Trump wearing the merchandise, in a post that was shared by Donald Trump’s official War Room Twitter account.
In March, Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker he was “not joking” about considering a third term, adding that there were “methods which you could do it.”
What People Are Saying
Former chief strategist Steve Bannon discussed Trump potentially seeking a third term in March, saying: “I haven’t said we’re going to amend the Constitution. We’re working on five or six different alternatives that President Trump could run again and be president, and quite frankly I think four or five of them are going to work.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi told Fox News on April 6: “President Trump has served one full term. He’s on his second full term. He’s a very smart man. I wish we could have him for 20 years as our president, but I think he’s going to be finished, probably, after this term.”
What Happens Next
Trump and his team have made no serious declaration of an intent to run for another term. No attempts to change the constitution to allow him have been made either.
