Falcons Owner Makes Generous Donation to Hurricane Melissa Relief
Hurricane Melissa has left many lives devastated in the tropics this week.
With its strong winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding, the Category 5 storm has caused extensive damage to Jamaica this week and has since moved on to Cuba, where it will eventually run through the Bahamas on Wednesday.
The storm made landfall Tuesday morning, leaving many in the regions it hit without power and without the supplies needed to function day in and day out. As the tropics face a time of need, many have begun doing what they can to aid those with homes there.
One of whom is Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank.
Blank’s foundation announced that it would make a generous donation to aid relief efforts for those in need, as the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation revealed it would send $2.5 million in relief to those affected by the hurricane in and around Jamaica.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter echoed the news of the donation on Wednesday morning.
The footage of Hurricane Melissa is frightening to watch. The hurricane season in 2025 has been somewhat quiet, and it is nearly at its end, which makes this catastrophic event even more disheartening for the people who have to endure it.
Blank is best known as the owner of the Falcons, who famously was on the field during his team’s first-half dominance in Super Bowl LI against the New England Patriots, only to have the win stripped away in the second half.
Blank is also the co-founder of the famous home improvement retail chain, Home Depot. He stepped away from his duties with the company back in 2001.
Blank puts his money where his mouth is and, he’s stepping up to aid people in need right now. Time will tell whether any other NFL owners or wealthy business owners plan to donate to the relief effort.
