Falcons QB Kirk Cousins Linked to 3 Potential Trade Destinations
The Atlanta Falcons have still not traded veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. After being replaced by Michael Penix Jr. as the starter at the end of last season, Cousins was widely expected to be moved during the offseason.
Cousins wants to play. He wants to have an opportunity to be on the field. At least right now with the Falcons, that won’t be the case.
With that being said, the 2025 NFL season is coming up quickly. Training camp is already underway and teams are getting a look at what they have under center. There could be a team or two who decides that it needs to pursue an upgrade.

For any team in that situation, Cousins could represent a perfect option. He may be coming off of a tough season from a turnover perspective, but he still as a long track record of being a winning starting quarterback.

Who could look at the option of trading for Cousins? There are three teams who have been linked as possible suitors.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report looked into quarterbacks around the league who teams should target. When it came to Cousins, he suggested that the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and New Orleans Saints could be possible destinations.
“Teams holding open quarterback competitions—like the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints—could also come calling about Cousins should their QB battles go awry,” Knox wrote.
He also mentioned that a quarterback injury during the season could force a team to come calling about a quarterback like Cousins.
During the 2024 NFL season, Cousins returned from a torn Achilles that he suffered the year before. He played in 14 games for Atlanta, completing 66.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Those turnovers numbers were the biggest concern.

At 36 years old, the clock is ticking on Cousins’ career. He would likely be open to heading to any situation where he can play the game he loves as a starter.
All three of the teams mentioned by Knox could offer him that opportunity depending on how things go in their respective quarterback competitions.
Expect to hear more about Cousins in the near future. For now, he will remain with the Falcons waiting to see when he gets to see the field next.
