Minister Szijjártó said Egypt still played a key role “in finding reassuring answers to the challenges in the Middle East”.
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said the security situation in the Middle East greatly affects European security.
Following a phone call with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on Saturday, the foreign minister said on Facebook: “So Hungary has an interest in ensuring stability, peace and calm in the region.”
Given recent volatility, Hungary “highly appreciates any initiative that aims to return stability” to the Middle East, he said, adding that Egypt “has always acted responsibly” and enhanced European security “by keeping migrants in check”.
