Former NFL Player Accused of Targeting Single Moms and Giving Them Herpes
Eric Moulds, a former National Football League (NFL) player, is being accused of knowingly spreading a sexually transmitted disease to single mothers in New York in a newly filed lawsuit.
A New York woman sued the former Buffalo Bills wide receiver on Tuesday for negligence and intentional causes of action, failure to disclose and infliction of emotional distress. The woman alleged that she contracted herpes after Moulds had sexual relations with her, knowing that he had the disease. The lawsuit also alleges that he spread herpes to several other women as well and that he “targeted single mothers who were Buffalo Bills fans living in Western New York.”
The woman said she began communicating with Moulds on Instagram in 2018. By 2023, they had “developed a sexual relationship,” according to the lawsuit.
The woman alleged that Moulds had sexual relations with her for the last time in November of 2023, and the encounter was “unprotected.” She said she began experiencing symptoms the next month and later tested positive for herpes simplex virus type 2, which has no cure.
Moulds never disclosed that he had herpes, according to the woman. She said she was only having sexual relations with him during that time.
The lawsuit stated that Moulds’ fiancée told the woman to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases, “because she, along with other women whom Defendant had relationships with, had been transmitted diseases by him.” The woman said she did not know Moulds had a “pregnant fiancée with whom he had been in a relationship for eight years” when their relationship began.
The lawsuit said that Moulds “was also sued by several women for knowingly spreading herpes over a decade ago.” It alleges that the women were paid off and forced to sign nondisclosure agreements (NDA).
The woman behind the lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleges that she was also offered payment for dropping her lawsuit in a bid to “buy her silence.”
“We are in the process of gathering information/evidence and will be responding to the complaint, which we will vigorously defend. I will have more information and comments once the litigation process starts,” Frank LoTempio III, Moulds’ attorney, told Newsweek.
Moulds played for 12 seasons in the NFL. He drafted by the Bills in 1996 and was traded to the Houston Texans in 2006. He was released from the team later that year. The Tennessee Titans then signed Moulds in 2007 and released him after the season ended.
