Giants Get Huge Malik Nabers Injury News for 2026 NFL Season

Star wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury during the New York Giants’ Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sep. 28.

Exactly one month later, Nabers underwent surgery to repair the ligament.

Wednesday’s procedure was successful and Nabers is expected to make a full recovery before the start of the 2026 NFL season. The second-year WR also had his meniscus repaired during the surgery, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Nabers went through a “pre-hab” process over the last four weeks, strengthening and stretching the area around his knee to prepare for the procedure. It was also revealed that the LSU alum is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 season — something that was in doubt given the recovery time typically needed for ACL injuries.

Nabers’ surgery was performed by Dallas Cowboys’ head team physician Dr. Daniel E. Cooper, according to ESPN. The 22-year-old wide receiver will begin rehabilitation on Wednesday after he’s released from the hospital.

Nabers joined the Giants franchise as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The former LSU standout burst onto the professional scene, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns through 15 games in his rookie campaign.

Through the first four games of his second NFL season, Nabers reeled in 18 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Most of that production came in the Giants’ Week 2 overtime loss to the Cowboys, in which he caught nine passes for 167 yards and both of his touchdown scores.

Nabers never got a chance to develop in-game chemistry with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who made his first career start in Week 4.

Before he was carted off the field with his ACL tear midway through the second quarter, Nabers had reeled in two catches for 20 yards. The injury occurred on an attempted deep-ball connection with Dart.

The Giants suffered another devastating injury this past weekend, losing rookie running back Cam Skattebo to a season-ending ankle dislocation. Skattebo underwent emergency surgery after he was transferred to a local hospital in Philadelphia on Sunday night.

The Giants are 2-6 heading into Sunday’s Week 9 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
