Giants Get Warning on John Harbaugh Amid HC Search
The New York Giants are on the hunt for a new head coach after firing head coach Brian Daboll following a 2-8 start to the season in November of 2025. In the interim, Mike Kafka took over as interim, and the team rounded out their season with a 4-13 record and at the bottom of the NFC East.
The moment the Baltimore Ravens let go of head coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, Jan. 6, the NFL analysts and experts discussed that he would be a perfect fit for the Giants.
“Coaches with Harbaugh’s resume don’t reach the open market, especially at his age,” Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted in a Thursday, JAn. 8 feature. “Harbaugh is the dream hire for Giants owners who have been seeking a culture-setting winner since Coughlin’s unceremonious exit after the 2015 season.”
Numbers don’t lie, and Harbaugh’s 180 career wins rank him 14th in NFL history. He also has notched 11 seasons with double-digit wins with the Ravens.
Duggan, an insider, added that, “If Harbaugh is interested in the Giants, this pairing could come together quickly.”
But, not so fast. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post shot a warning to the Giants after the Miami Dolphins fired Mike McDaniel on Thursday.
“And now Giants fans should get nervous,” he said. “If #FinsUp hire Chad Alexander as GM, they become the clear John Harbaugh favorites.”
Followers were divided on if the Giants lost Harbaugh with this new development.
“We have to move on, he’s already the new head coach of the Dolphins, that’s clear,” one follower said. “Now, we have to focus on Kevin so we don’t lose him. I hope for a deal by Saturday.”

“Should they be really nervous?” added another, adding that the Dolphins are in a tough division, going in a new direction with their quarterback and have a “bad salary cap.”
“‘Clear’ favorites…I don’t know if I’d go that far,” another said. “The Giants are still easily the best situation at the moment.”
Why would the giants be nervous?” one more said. “What does Miami have over the giants in terms of roster & young quarterback? At 63 why would he choose Miami over Giants? But anything is possible.”

The good news is that according to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, via the Scoop City Show, “John Harbaugh really like’s the Giants. And they Really like him… the team is pushing to get him in the building early next week.” Plus, the Giants reportedly had internal talks about Harbaugh even before he was available, which is another good sign.
