Giants Make Perfect Sense for Shocking Tyreek Hill Trade

To say that the New York Giants’ offense looked completely flat in Week 1 would be an understatement. The Giants managed just six points, managed a meager 231 total yards and Russell Wilson went 17-for-37 in a loss to the Washington Commanders. Not exactly a recipe for success.

While fans are immediately calling for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, Dart himself wouldn’t be able to solve all of the problems. There are much deeper issues with New York’s offense than just what is going on under center, and while the offensive line is very troubling, another huge problem is at the wide receiver position.

The Giants do not really have a true No. 2 receiver behind Malik Nabers. Wan’Dale Robinson is a decent piece and Darius Slayton is reliable, but they are really both tertiary options posing as top targets in a thin New York passing attack.

New York attempted to expedite its rebuild by adding key defensive pieces like Jevon Holland, Paulson Adebo and Chauncey Golston in free agency, so why not try and bolster the offensive side of the ball, as well?

The Giants have until November trade deadline to make some improvements, and there could be one top-flight receiver available before then: Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill.

The Dolphins looked awful in their season opener, and Hill — who was a rumored trade candidate during the offseason — was visibly frustrated. Enter Big Blue, who could absolutely use another big-time weapon alongside of Nabers.

Yes, Hill is 31 years old, and he did exhibit some signs of decline last season, but there is a possibility he could be had for a third-round draft pick or less. Can the Giants really pass on this opportunity?

Hill is under contract through the end of 2026, but his earnings for next season are not even fully guaranteed, so New York would not be taking on too much financial risk here, either.

A Nabers-Hill tandem would actually be pretty lethal. If and when the Giants do decide to turn to Dart this year, he would suddenly have no shortage of playmakers at his disposal. Robinson and Slayton would also look considerably better as No. 3 and 4 receivers, especially with such a dynamic duo ahead of them.

New York definitely needs to do something. While the Giants aren’t expected to make the playoffs this season, they at least need to demonstrate some form of tangible improvement, and based on what we saw against the Commanders this past weekend, that may not happen for them as currently constructed.

Hill could be just the answer that Big Blue needs.
